What is Remove Whitespace?
Remove Whitespace is a text cleanup utility designed to eliminate unwanted spacing, irregular indentations, and redundant empty lines. Raw text copied from formatted documents, OCR software, or database exports often carries extraneous whitespace that ruins formatting and complicates data processing.
The tool provides three cleaning modes selectable via a dropdown menu. "Collapse multiple spaces" replaces runs of spaces and tabs with a single space, condenses three or more consecutive line breaks into a clean double newline, and trims the beginning and end of the text. "Trim each line" strips leading and trailing spaces from every individual line while maintaining line breaks. "Remove all whitespace" eliminates every space, tab, and newline character.
The processed text appears in a read-only textarea below the controls. A convenient "📋 Copy" button lets you copy the sanitized output directly to your clipboard in a single click.
How to use it
- Paste your unformatted text into the textarea displaying the placeholder Paste text with extra spaces....
- Select your desired mode from the dropdown: Collapse multiple spaces, Trim each line, or Remove all whitespace.
- Click the Clean button to execute the whitespace cleanup algorithm.
- Review the result in the read-only textarea and click the 📋 Copy button to copy your formatted text.
Why use this over alternatives
Many text formatters strip formatting aggressively without giving you control over line breaks. This utility offers three targeted modes to suit prose, code, and raw data directly on your device. It runs locally in your browser using client-side JavaScript.
