What is Currency Exchange Rate?
Currency Exchange Rate is a currency converter that uses live exchange rates instead of stale tables. It supports 12 currencies — USD, CNY, EUR, JPY, GBP, KRW, HKD, SGD, THB, VND, IDR, and MYR — in both the From and To dropdowns, so any pairing among them works.
When you click Convert, your browser requests the latest rates for the From currency from the free ExchangeRate-API endpoint at open.er-api.com, multiplies your amount by the rate for the To currency, and displays the result rounded to two decimals, the unit rate (1 USD = X CNY), and the rate's publication date.
This is one of the few DailyToolbox tools that needs the network: without a connection to the rate API, there is nothing to convert with.
How to use it
- Type your amount in the Amount box (it starts at 1).
- Choose the source currency in the From dropdown (defaults to USD) and the target currency in the To dropdown (defaults to CNY).
- Click Convert. The button shows Converting... while the rate is being fetched.
- Read the result — for example
1 USD = 7.12 CNY — plus the unit rate and the Rate date line showing when the rate was published.
Why use this over alternatives
Search-engine converters work but bury the rate date and unit rate, and many converter sites are heavy with ads and trackers. This page is a single clean form with the rate, the converted amount, and the publication date. Rates are fetched live from ExchangeRate-API's free endpoint (open.er-api.com) by your browser, so the numbers are current. Note that your amount and currency choices are sent to that third-party API as part of the request, and an internet connection is required.
