What is a PDF Splitter?
PDF files index pages within an internal document catalog known as the page tree. Each page object contains independent references to font descriptors, content streams, and resource dictionaries. Splitting a PDF involves identifying the target page nodes, constructing a new root catalog for each extracted page, and copying necessary sub-resources while resolving indirect object references.
This tool loads the PDF as an ArrayBuffer in your browser's local memory. When you choose pages to extract, it generates a fresh PDF container for each selected page, copies only the corresponding page stream, and exports individual PDF files directly to your device.
How to use it
- Click Choose PDF File to load a PDF document from your device.
- View the total page count and page grid; use Select all or Clear to adjust the selection, or click individual page numbers to toggle them.
- Click the ✂️ Split [N] pages button to begin client-side extraction.
- The tool generates individual PDF files for each selected page and prompts your browser to download them to your device.
Why use this over alternatives
Cloud-based splitting tools require uploading your entire multi-page document to remote servers, even when you only need a single page. This splitter operates entirely within your local browser sandbox. Your files never leave your device, ensuring unselected and selected pages alike remain completely private.
