# How to Write Meta Tags That Actually Rank (2026 Guide)
Most pages fail in Google not because of content, but because the meta tags are weak. Title too long and truncated. Description vague and ignored. OG tags missing and shares look broken.
This 10-minute workflow fixes all three.
1. Title: 55-60 characters, keyword first
Put the primary keyword in the first 3 words. Keep it under 60 chars or Google cuts it.
- Bad: "Welcome to Daily Toolbox - We have many free tools for everyone to use online"
- Good: "Meta Tags Generator â Open Graph & Twitter Card (Free)"
Test yours with the free Meta Tags Generator: paste title, see live SERP preview.
2. Description: 150-160 characters, one promise
A description does not rank you, but it wins the click. Write one benefit + one proof.
Template: "[What it does] for [who]. [Proof]. Free, no sign-up."
Example: "Generate Open Graph and Twitter Card tags for any page. Free, copy-paste ready â preview in Google & Facebook before you publish."
3. OG & Twitter: never ship without them

In the generator: fill URL + image, click Generate, copy the block into your
